Ayia Kyriaki

Wedding at Ayia Kyriaki Church in Paphos, CyprusAyia Kyriaki was built around 1500 AD as a Latin Church on the site of an Early Christian Basilica which was destroyed in 59 AD by an earthquake.

About 100 years after its construction and following the Turkish invasion of 1570, it became the Byzantine Cathedral of Kato (Lower) Paphos.

St. Paul and St. Barnabas's first missionary journey was to Cyprus in around 45 AD.  During their visit (which we're sure included a trip down Bar Street!) they met and converted the Roman Proconsul, Sergius Paulus to Christianity (Acts 13 verses 4-12).
