Wedding Formalities in Cyprus
Key facts about getting married in Paphos, Cyprus
You must be resident in Paphos, Cyprus for at least three working days before your wedding day. This excludes the day of your arrival, weekends and local public holidays (check with us – there’s lots of them in Cyprus! The perfect time to unwind, relax and perfect that sun-kissed glow for your Wedding day! Alternatively, have a wild night Hen Party in Bar Street…
You need to bring the following documentation with you. And they’ve got to be the original documents - photocopies will not be accepted.
- 10 year passport
- Both your Birth Certificates - the full version not the small one
- Adoption certificate (if applicable)
- You require a statutory declaration (sometimes called an affidavit) obtained from a solicitor. This document should not be more than three months old by date of wedding.
- If either of you have been divorced, the Decree Absolute
- Deed poll proof of name change (if applicable)
If either of your is widowed, your previous Spouse's death certificate- Copy of witness passports
- For an Anglican Church Ceremony, baptism certificates
- Irish citizens must obtain a Freedom to Marry certificate from either the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland or the Irish Embassy in London
- Anyone under the age of 18 will need parental consent
- Both of you must have an Affidavit confirming you a free to get married. These must include you name, address, nationality, religion, passport number and occupation. It must state whether you are single, widowed or divorced and that you intend to marry in Paphos Cyprus. The document must be signed and stamped by a UK solicitor, stating "solicitor" on the document
- Scottish nationals must obtain a "Certificate of No Impediment" from the local Registry Office in place of the Declaration. The above documents need to be raised not more than three months before your wedding date
- Please send the above documents to us to arrive two to four weeks prior to your arrival date in Cyprus
Costs
The cost of a special license is currently €282. This is payable in cash to the relevant town hall when you are in Paphos.
If you choose to have your wedding ceremony at one of the hotels the town hall will make an extra charge, as will the hotel. (Prices available upon request).
Weddings held in churches at present time cost anything from €550 - again, available on request.

To avoid disappointment you need to give as much notice as possible so the earlier you book the better!
Unlike booking with a major tour operator, we can advise on the date and time within 24 hours after your initial enquiry, taking the stress out of reception preparation.
Legal in the UK?
Your Cyprus Wedding is fully legal in the UK, providing a licensed marriage officer performs the wedding.
Two witnesses are required and have to be over 18 years of age. We will need a photocopy of each witness's passport. If you are planning to have a private ceremony then we can provide two witnesses for you.
